What an interior designer does: As a designer I envision plans andoutfits spaces in a way that makes them both beautiful and functional. I always balance aesthetic considerations with structural planning to reflect the clients’ lifestyle, set the desired mood, complement the home’s architectural features, and ensure that less glamorous details (like electrical outlets and air vents) fit into the scheme. interior design requires cultivating relationships with trusted artisans, vendors and others who execute my design…

Subject: more to a good bathroom design
. Is there more to a good design than a few logical arrangements? How do I make that puzzling bathroom spectacular? More than just simple and utilitarian. Multiple design schemes for a project. At the core exhibit my general use of creative judgment in constructing new arrangements to fit a particular design situation and selecting materials, fixtures, appliances, lighting, etc., is hardly debatable falling into realm of principles of design and esthetics.
In general terms
– Profile, goals and objectives (to make a logical prelude to the presentation)
– Floor plan
– Demolition plan (in case of extensive structural alterations only)
– Elevations
– Specifications of all major surfaces ( as such with reference to image or sample)
– Full specs of one major surface (all details, including sizes, quantities, patterns and joints, yes grout color too, installation, pricing , supplier, delivery )
– Appliances, fixtures, cabinets and fittings picks (as such, complete list a+ )
– Exhibit general understanding of workings of all services.

Quintessential Pioneers of American Industrial Design,By Stacy Miles Designer 2014Consumer interest in modern design
continued to increase after World War II, when machines allowed corporations to mass produce vacuums, hair dryers, toasters and other consumer goods at low cost. Industrial designers helped lower costs further by exploiting inexpensive new materials like plastic, vinyl, chrome, aluminum and plywood, which responded well to advances in manufacturing such as the use of molds and stamping. Affordable prices and growing prosperity nationwide helped drive popular demand.
Even as streamlining gave way to new looks in the 1960s, the groundbreaking work of industrial designers continued to transform the look of homes and offices across the country. Today, industrial design remains an integral component of American manufacturing and business, as well as daily life.

PIONEERS OF AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN: 1880-1989 Encompassing everything from consumer goods-such as furniture, kitchen appliances, vacuums, cars, and even airplanes, industrial design is the study and creation of products whose function and construction have been optimized for human use. The work of these inspirational designers of the 20th century the “Pioneers of American Industrial Design”, have transformed homes, offices and helped to shape the look of everyday life in the 20th century. Their design inspiration has led the way to the age of technology in design for the 21st century.
Pioneers of American Industrial Design
Designer Stacy Miles — reaching for the very roots of the question “Why design?” My inspirations come from everyday life, and the pioneers in design that came before me. It takes a lot of work to figure out how to make a design look good. So I work hard every day!
By honoring 12 of the nation’s most important and influential industrial designers, The Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum was the setting for the dedication. The 12 designers who are honored on individual stamps include Peter Müller-Munk, Frederick Hurten Rhead, Raymond Loewy, Donald Deskey, Walter Dorwin Teague, Henry Dreyfuss, Norman Bel Geddes, Dave Chapman, Greta von Nessen, Eliot Noyes, Russel Wright and Gilbert Rohde. Joining Granholm to dedicate the stamps were Bill Moggridge, director, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; Ralph Caplan, design writer; Jessica Helfand and Sylvia Harris, Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee; Derry Noyes, art director; Margaret Bauer, art designer; and Stephen M. Kearney, executive director, Stamp Services.
Industrial design emerged as a profession in the United Sates in the 1920s, but really took off during the Great Depression. Faced with decreasing sales, manufacturers turned to industrial designers to give their products a modern look that would appeal to consumers. Characterized by horizontal lines and rounded shapes, the new, streamlined looks differed completely from the decorative extravagance of the 1920s. The designs evoked a sense of speed and efficiency and projected the image of progress and affluence the public desired.

What is “New “ in Design 2014:
By Stacy Miles

Among all the tiles , fancy fixtures, faucets, plumbing, and furnishings that I have designed with in 2013 there are some noticeable trends evolving for 2014… As I filtered through all my projects, here are the three trends that stood out:
Top Kitchen & Bathroom Trends
1. DIGITAL. Though it always sounds a bit ridiculous at first, there is no denying that digital technology is changing this industry dramatically. Though high-end spa tubs that play music and remember your “ favorite tunes on the iPad” , temperature control and conservation settings will no doubt become more commonplace.
2. RETROFIT &RENOVATE. The kitchen and bathrooms industry is responding to the needs of the thousands of homeowners and urban renters who wish to upgrade their existing homes. These products make retrofit and renovation easier with standard sizing and smart solutions to make DIY even easier (if that’s the route you choose). As a designer I suggest always working with professionals !
3. TRANSITIONAL / CONTEMPORARY Nearly every manufacturer I spoke with talked about their newest designs that were destined to be in high-demand due to their strategic aesthetic that was a nod towards traditional but just modern enough to appeal to today’s consumers. While I personally prefer more modern and edgy design, mid-century modern collectible items, these new products make designing a room a that will appeal to any elegant classic home and to a wider range of consumers.
